My sweet friend Saren has always been my make-up guru, when it comes to the latest looks, products and tips, she always is in the know of the best tricks and tools to create a beautiful look. I was honored to have her do my make-up along with my bridesmaid’s on my wedding day, and I still look back in awe at how she beautified us all for my special day. We often make trips to Sephora and I always leave with way more than I came for (my husband appreciates that 😉 haha). I feel all that I know about make-up is thanks to her. Her passion for what she does is such an inspiration to me. She recently created an instagram theresalwayslipstick that has tips, tricks and the latest, greatest products that she tries and shares with her followers.. I will warn you, it can be dangerous following her because I always end up running out and buying most of it. So if you’re wanting some beauty and make-up tips, or even have questions, she is your girl to follow and will answer any questions you may have! I am so happy to have her on here today discussing some spring make-up trends with all of you! Happy reading xx.
I’m SO excited to talk to you about makeup today! I love transitioning from heavy fall/ winter makeup and embracing light, dewy, fresh makeup that comes along with spring!
Makeup is the icing on top of ANY outfit, and really brings everything together and allows you to express how you’re feeling on any given day. There are some really exciting trends that are totally wearable, and allow you to experiment with colour and texture, and different techniques.
Bright orange/ tangerine lips: From bright neon to coral, orange lips are everything this season. There are so many options, from a more sheer gloss, to a highly pigmented lipstick. When wearing this super fun colour, try keeping the rest of your look clean and simple and I promise, it can work on anyone! ! I hope you give this awesome trend a try! Some of my favourites are Maybelline ‘Electric Orange’, Nars ‘heatwave’, Revlon ‘Siren’, NYX ‘indie Flick’, Revlon Colorburst ‘Audacious’ & Mac ‘Vegas Volt’
Radiant Skin : We all want it- healthy, glowing skin that looks effortless but really sets the stage for the rest of your makeup. I love mixing a small amount of liquid luminizer into my foundation, like Benefit Highbeam for a really natural looking glow. For girls with more oily skin who don’t want that all over glow, I love using a powder highlighter on the high points of my cheeks. Try using ‘Mary-Lou Manizer’ by The Balm, any of the Hourglass Ambient lighting Powders, ‘Rose’ Shimmer Brick from Bobbi Brown, or ‘Argan Illuminizer’ by Josie Maran
Strong Liner: Don’t be afraid to wear and experiment with a super strong winged liner! It makes such a statement, and a bold lip, pared with a great cat eye is perfection! This look is flattering on anyone, and really opens the eyes and makes them appear bigger. Some of my favourite products to use are the Stila Stay all day liquid liner, Kat Von D tattoo liner, and the L’Oreal Carbon Black Lineur Intense.
Have fun with these trends! But don’t forget that makeup is all about what you are comfortable wearing, and what makes you feel like the best version of yourself. This is the best time to experiment with bold, exciting colors both in your makeup, and your wardrobe. I’d love to see some of these products in action on you girls!
