I have often been asked where Addilyn got her curly hair from, and truthfully, we don’t even really know because mine is poker straight, and Joel’s is as well for the most part! Regardless of where it came from, I couldn’t love it more. I believe that as she grows older, it will be important to instill in her that her curls and the hair she was born with, are things she should embrace and be proud of! I want her to feel that she can wear her hair whichever way she wants that makes her feel confident and most like “her”!
I feel so lucky to have a daughter with whom I am able to teach things to and be a role model for. From doing my own hair and makeup, to how she sees me behave on a daily basis, I want to be the best example I can possibly be for my little girl. Part of doing this is, celebrating who she is and allowing her confidence in herself to grow! In fact, a recent Dove study found that 82% of girls learn to care about themselves from their mother. Just like Addi’s curly hair, she is unique and special in every single way, and I always want her to know that! If you have a daughter, tell her why you love her hair, and inspire her to do the same by sharing your #LoveYourHair selfie and tagging @Dove.
